My Italian Eats

If Rome had a witness protection program for restaurants, Il Ciociaro would be its star graduate. Tucked away in a location you'd probably walk right past, I almost did, this family-owned gem quietly serves the kind of homemade Italian food that makes you question every "authentic" meal you've had before.
The atmosphere feels like you've been invited into someone's home, the waiters are genuinely personable without the rehearsed charm, and every plate arrives looking like it was made for family—not tourists.
The spaghetti with pork and veal meatballs is comfort food elevated to an art form, while the cacio e pepe is so perfectly executed you'll already be planning your next visit before the plate is cleared.
And then there's the tiramisu. Calling it dessert almost undersells it. This is, without exaggeration, the best tiramisu on the planet—and I'm willing to defend that statement over espresso with anyone who disagrees. If you're looking for flashy, keep walking. If you're looking for unforgettable, homemade Italian food served with heart, Il Ciociaro belongs at the top of your Rome list.
Some restaurants fill your stomach; places like Il Ciociaro remind you why you travel in the first place. Come hungry, save room for the tiramisu, and don't be surprised if you're already plotting a return visit before you've paid the bill.
And that's just my CreativeLeeway!
